An Introduction

By Henry Lipput

Welcome to my new blog!

Pure Pop For Now People (a tip of the hat to the original name of the U.S. release of Nick Lowe’s 1978 Jesus Of Cool album) is a blog (mainly) about music.

I’ve been writing about music -- mostly new releases -- since 2003 when I began doing reviews for Pittsburgh Boomers, a monthly Pittsburgh-based newspaper. I had pitched the idea of reviewing music that I felt a certain age group would like based on their growing up in the ‘60s and listening to the great mix of music heard on AM radio at the time. It was my impression that these folks were not buying new music anymore because they didn’t know what to buy so I attempted to fill that void.

I then spent about a year reviewing albums for the OutMaturity site. After Pittsburgh Boomers shut down (and I’m pretty sure my reviews had nothing to do with it), the owner moved to Georgia and started up the Lake Oconee Boomers website for which I wrote for two years.

For nearly six years I’ve had the extreme pleasure of writing reviews for CoolDad Music, a New Jersey-based site. But a number of factors, including the current state of affairs in this country, have led me to branch out and create my own space.

I hope you’ll enjoy reading my reviews which I will also be posting on my Twitter feed (Fanboy). Let me know what you think, what you’re listening to, and what you think I should hear.

And, as always, SUPPORT INDIE MUSIC!
